It Takes A Village – Photo Credit Kelcey Knott

It takes a village. It always did and it always will. Thank you villagers!

An oversight earlier in my day led to me getting a later start on marking the course than normal. I finished up about 20 minutes before the start of the race. When I returned I needed to rehydrate, get my notes and get to the ladder. As I buzzed by the finish line I saw the timers completely set up, smiles on faces, ready to go. There was a short orderly line at check-in, no stress. Kurt was spinning jams and handling public address. Photogs were squinting through viewfinders. I looked out into the parking lots and volunteers in blaze yellow vests, radios strapped to chests, looked like they do this type of work for their 9 to 5. Boy did I feel proud to be a part of the team, part of the community, part of the village. Thank you all for seeking out the volunteer signup form, showing up, and taking care of business – I am beyond impressed and extremely grateful.

Let’s do it again next year! Until then, if you need anything, please reach out.

Thank You,

John Storkamp
