Greetings Friends,
On Tuesday evening before this years Endless Summer Trail Run Series Lebanon 10KM I got out for a run on our race course in what was a steady rain. I wanted to check trail conditions after something like 1.75 inches had fallen in 24 hours. With the sandy, hard packed, well drained, and superbly maintained trails at Lebanon Hills Park, conditions were just fine. That said, with more rain forecast to come in the (next) 24 hours leading into the race, I decided we should not be ‘greedy’ and just run one 5K loop, as opposed to the normal two loops that comprise the 10K course – this in order to limit any potential trail impact. Ultimately the weather system ended up soaking Eagan with nearly 3 inches of rain before it was over. As much fun as I had on my scouting run on Tuesday night, I will admit that setting up in the rain on Wednesday was not so inspiring. But then, starting at 5 PM, you all started rolling in, a few less than normal for sure, but those of you that did come brought great attitudes, big smiles, and awesome vibes! Trail runners are the absolute best! Rain or shine, I know the next one at French Park in Plymouth will be great too, we hope to see you all there.
A huge thank you to Lebanon Hills / Dakota County Parks for hosting us and taking such great care of the park, and trail system. An equally big thank you to Chapel Hill Church for the use of their parking lot.
As always, all credit is due to our amazing volunteers – thank you!
