2017 Endless Summer Trail Run Series Volunteer Email – Hyland 4MI

Date: Wednesday July 26th, 2017
Subject: 2017 Endless Summer Trail Run Series Volunteer Email – Hyland 4MI

Hi All!

We cannot thank you enough for volunteering throughout the year and for the upcoming Endless Summer Trail Run Series, Hyland 4 Mile race, on Wednesday
August 2nd, 2017!  It’s hard to believe but it is already the last ESTRS race of the year!

Volunteer assignments have been made and can be found on our website HERE https://www.estrs.com/volunteer-assignments-hyland-4mi/  – be sure to search by last name and by job as most volunteers will have more than one job. Please be sure to let me know if I made any mistakes / something does not work for you and we can easily adjust!

Race number / packet pickup starts at 5:00PM and the race starts at 6:30PM at “Jans Place” at Hyland Park Reserve, 10145 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington, MN 55438 – Directions HERE – once you arrive at Hyland follow park signage to “Jan’s Place”.

For those working the aid station / water stop, it is in a new location this year since we have changed the race distance from 7 miles to 4 miles.  The water stop is now at the Sumac Knoll Group Campsite see THIS and THIS for directions.  The entrance to the Sumac Knoll Group Campsite is exactly 1/2 mile south of the Hyland Park Reserve main entrance on Bush Lake Road – it is the first left after the main Hyland Park entrance that we use for the race.  The water stop is 2 miles into the 4 mile course, we anticipate the first runners through the water stop between 6:40 and 6:45 – all of the equipment will be there and setup when you arrive, you will just need to pour cups of water and do the final touches.  Bill Pomerenke and Robyn Reed will head up the water stop and you will all help them load the supplies into the truck when the water stop closes so the equipment can be hauled back to the start / finish area.

We know that it is a busy / tiring night for volunteers but anyone that is willing to stay until the end and help us get cleaned up and packed up is certainly needed and appreciated, there is usually a big push to get this going around 8:15 PM or so and we are usually fully packed up and out by 9:15 PM. Be sure to pick up a pint glass for yourself when you arrive and also stay for Pizza and beverages after.

Thanks again!  Please let me know if you have any questions!  See you next week!

Thank You,

John Storkamp

Whether you are a seasoned trail or road racer, first time trail-racer, need a tune-up for your next race, need to get in some speed-work or just want to have some pizza, pop and beer with us at the finish – running one or all of the races in the series is for you.  The Endless Summer Trail Run Series has garnered a strong local following and has gotten significant national media coverage as one of the best organized and most well attended trail running series in the country!
